 | | The Girl Who Played with Fire | In the highly anticipated second installment of Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy (following The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) is a wanted woman. A researcher and a Millennium journalist about to expose the truth about the sex trade in Sweden are brutally murdered, and Salander's prints are on the weapon. Her history of unpredictable and vengeful behavior makes her an official danger to society—but no one can find her anywhere. Meanwhile, Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist), editor-in-chief of Millennium, will not believe what he hears on the news. Knowing Salander to be fierce when fearful, he is desperate to get to her before she is cornered and alone. As he fits the pieces of the puzzle together, he comes up against some hardened criminals, including the chainsaw-wielding 'blond giant' (Micke Spreitz)—a fearsomely huge thug who can feel no pain. Digging deeper, Blomkvist also unearths some heart-wrenching facts about Salander’s past life. Committed to psychiatric care aged 12, declared legally incompetent at 18, this is a messed-up young woman who is the product of an unjust and corrupt system. Yet Lisbeth is more avenging angel than helpless victim. In Swedish with subtitles. (R, 129 mins)

| | | I Am Love | I Am Love tells the story of the wealthy Recchi family, whose lives are undergoing sweeping changes. Eduardo Sr. (Gabriele Ferzetti), the family patriarch, has decided to name a successor to reign over his massive industrial company, surprising everyone by splitting power between his son Tancredi (Pippo Delbono), and grandson Edo (Flavio Parenti). But Edo dreams of opening a restaurant with his friend Antonio (Edoardo Gabbriellini), a handsome and talented chef. At the heart of the family is Tancredi's wife Emma (Tilda Swinton), a Russian immigrant who has adopted the culture of Milan. An adoring and attentive mother, her existence is shocked to the core when she falls quickly and deeply in love with Edo's friend and partner Antonio, and embarks on a passionate love affair that will change her family forever. In Italian with subtitles, and some English. (R, 120 mins)

| | | The Killer Inside Me | Based on the novel by legendary pulp writer Jim Thompson (The Grifters), this thriller tells the story of a handsome, charming, unassuming small town sheriff's deputy named Lou Ford (Casey Affleck). Lou has a bunch of problems. Woman problems. Law enforcement problems. An ever-growing pile of murder victims in his West Texas jurisdiction. And, oh yes, the fact that he's a sadist, a psychopath, and a killer. When suspicion begins to fall on Lou, it's only a matter of time before he runs out of alibis. But in Thompson's savage, bleak, blacker-than-noir universe, nothing is ever what it seems, and it turns out that the investigators pursuing him might have a secret of their own. Co-starring Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, Ned Beatty, Elias Koteas, Tom Bower, Simon Baker, and Bill Pullman. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, whose diverse body of work includes A Mighty Heart, Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story, and 9 Songs. (R, 109 mins)

| | | Sacred Chant Concert | Snatyam Kaur has become one of the most popular international artists of our time and she performs her sacred music around the world. Crystalline and radiant, Snatam's voice is grounded in the musical lineage of the Punjabi Sikhs but with a decidedly Western flavor. It's a call-and-response kirtan tradition, which builds an energetic momentum that has been called a musical group meditation and a yoga class in melody. She may lead audiences in a round of pranayama (yogic breathing) or get everyone on their feet for a stretching exercise that soon becomes a sacred dance. By the end of the night you will be let in on a great cosmic secret: devotional music is great fun. Snatam plays harmonium (Indian pump organ), as well as violin and guitar. She is ably supported by GuruGanesha Singh, who handles the guitar with effortless grace. Percussion is provided by Ramesh Kannan on tablas.
General Seating $30 in advance / $35 at door. Premiere Seating $45 in advance / $50 at door. Children 12 and under: $10

| | | Restrepo | Restrepo is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley. The movie focuses on a remote 15-man outpost, "Restrepo," named after a platoon medic who was killed in action. It was considered one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military. This is an entirely experiential film: the cameras never leave the valley; there are no interviews with generals or diplomats. The only goal is to make viewers feel as if they have just been through a 94-minute deployment. This is war, full stop. The conclusions are up to you. Directed by Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger (author of "The Perfect Storm"). (R, 94 mins)
