Dr. Will Tuttle will be presenting two lectures in Norfolk in May at the Studio for the Healing Arts, 1611 Colley Avenue, 2nd Floor. The first is "The Liberating Power of Non-Violence", May 9 at 7:15 p.m. It is based on the ideas in his book, The World Peace Diet, that our attitudes and practices surrounding food, nature, and animals have powerful hidden repercussions. Dr. Tuttle will illuminate how inquiring deeply into food takes us to the core of our culture and beyond: to a path of immense and inviting social transformation and personal healing. The public is invited to join Dr. Tuttle for a revealing exploration of the core of our culture as seen in our attitudes surrounding food.
The second lecture is "Heart Teachings On The Dharma Path", May 16 at 7:15 p.m. The public is invited to join author Will Tuttle, a former Zen monk and Buddhist practitioner for over 30 years, in an exploration into the connections between Buddhist practice and daily life. He will be making connections between the essence of Buddhist practice, which is awakening to our original wisdom, and how people can deepen their practice of mindfulness and compassion.
Both events are offered for a suggested donation of $10 and attendees will receive a complimentary CD by Dr. Tuttle.
Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet, and acclaimed pianist, composer, and educator, has lectured and performed widely throughout North America and Europe. He is a recipient of The Peace Abbey's Courage of Conscience Award and is a Dharma Master in the Zen tradition. His doctorate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, focused on educating intuition in adults, and he has taught college courses in creativity, humanities, mythology, religion, and philosophy.
Dr. Tuttle's book, The World Peace Diet, has been called one of the most important books of the 21st century: the foundation of a new society based on the truth of the interconnectedness of all life. It is the first book to make explicit the invisible connections between our meals and our broad range of problems-psychological, social, and spiritual, as well as health and environmental.
