Patriotic Duty of Dissent
An Evening with Ann Wright and Jonathan Hutto
Ann Wright is a retired U.S. Army Colonel who publicly resigned in opposition to the March 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq. For years she has toured the country as a powerful public speaker and anti-war activist. She has co-authored a book, "Dissent: Voices of Conscience" and will tell stories about conviction and courage in a time of war.
Jonathan Hutton is a founder of Appeal for Redress, an organization that provides for dissent within the active military. He is the author of "Antiwar Soldier: How to Dissent Within the Ranks" and will speak on citizen support of the troops, including those who choose to speak out.
Reception and book signing at Azar's (20th & Colley Ave) starts at 6:00pm.
The evening will include a preview of film clips from the new film Soldiers of Conscience which will be broadcast on the documentary series "P.O.V." on WHRO-TV in October.
