Naro Minded

Party Girl *Free Screening Event*
Free Screening Thursday, March 16th at 8:30 pm! (Doors open at 8 pm)
Old Dominion University Libraries’ returns once again to the beautiful, historic Naro Cinema for a free screening of Fun City Edition’s new 4K restoration of certified ‘Naro Minded’ classic Party Girl (1995). Plus: the silent comedy short Tilly’s Party (1911), featuring a new live score performance by Norfolk ambient electronic artist KARACELL, and an introduction by Naro Video alum Erik Swallow.
As the team at ODU Libraries continues its work towards building a new, permanent home for the legendary 43,000+ title Naro Expanded Video, we’re drawn to the plight of Mary the Party Girl (Parker Posey). When the fashionable, falafel-fed scenester ends up in the clink for throwing one too many illegal parties, she agrees to work off her bail debt behind the desk of the New York Public Library. A library – we can all agree – is not exactly a party, but as Mary settles into life amongst the books, she comes to realize that she can use her newfound library powers to help her friends succeed.
NARO MINDED – A regular series of free public screenings of cult favorites and new releases to share updates on Old Dominion University Libraries’ ongoing project to re-open Naro Expanded Video.
Admission is free courtesy of the Old Dominion University Libraries.
