Honoring Dolly!
Friday, September 25th at 8pm!

This classic office satire is about three female secretaries who decide to get revenge on their tyrannical, sexist boss by abducting him and running the business themselves. The film features Dolly Parton in her first movie! The trio, one of whom has been passed over for promotion because she is a woman, spend a night together having drug-induced fantasies of killing the slave-driving chauvinist. One of them panics the following day when she suspects she really has poisoned the tyrant. A legendary ensemble featuring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin pitted against their nefarious boss played by Dabney Coleman. (1980, PG, 1h 50m)

“[Dolly Parton] is, on the basis of this one film, a natural-born movie star, a performer who holds our attention so easily that it’s hard to believe it’s her first film.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“There are plenty of reasons why 9 to 5 has stood the test of time. The commitment to lifting up women. The push for more workplace equality and fair wages. The quippy one-liners that help make the medicine go down. ” – Alise Chaffins, The Dominion Post

“Parton’s smile wins a thousand hearts and deflects twice as many harassing come-ons.” – Josh Larsen, LarsenOnFilm
