This acclaimed new documentary reveals the untold stories of Nicaraguan women warriors and social revolutionaries who shattered barriers to lead combat and social reform during Nicaragua’s 1979 Sandinista Revolution and the ensuing U.S. funded Contra War waged by the Somoza dictatorship against their own people. Today another generation of Nicaraguan women are leading popular movements for equality, social justice, and democracy. (96 mins)

Post-Film discussion led by Christer Persson, Former Swedish diplomat to Nicaragua, 1977- 1979; Swedish Head of Mission in Managua 1982-83; EU-ambassador to Nicaragua 2007-2008 and Professor of International law at UAM (Universidad Americana) in Managua 2015-2016. Persson, who last visited Nicaragua in March this year, is now Professor of Political Science at Old Dominion University in Norfolk where he, among other topics, teaches Latin American Politics.
