Looking for Mr. Goodbar

Thursday, May 29th at 8pm!
A Special Screening Event presented by FILM BREAK SOCIETY

The notorious disco downer returns to the big screen for one night only!

An unflinching receipt for a decade of free sex and cheap drugs, director Richard Brooks’ LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR stars Diane Keaton in a brilliant performance as a headstrong woman breaking free from her overbearing Catholic family to live a life on her own terms. By day, she teaches special needs kids; by night, she indulges in the city’s swinging nightlife, navigating a cavalcade of horny, entitled morons. A bitter pill, GOODBAR is a shocking portrait of a hedonistic era in decline, and lays bare how insecure men target, undermine, and brutalize the liberated woman. Also starring Tuesday Weld, William Atherton, Richard Kiley, Richard Gere and Tom Berenger, GOODBAR was long unavailable due to its stacked (and expensive!) soundtrack featuring Donna Summer, The Commodores, Diana Ross, Bill Withers, and Marlena Shaw. The film finally returns to the cinema beautifully restored in 4K by Vinegar Syndrome. (1977, R, 2hr 16min)
