Premiering at this year’s Sundance Festival, this British comedy stars Tim Key, Tom Basden, and Carey Mulligan. The story concerns an eccentric millionaire who hires his favorite musician to perform for him on his remote desert island. He secretly also hires a former bandmate and ex-girlfriend of the musician. However, tensions rise as a storm traps them on the island. The film has been well received by critics, with the RT consensus that “The Ballad of Wallis Island hums along a sweet melody without lapsing into outright sentimentality, mining a great deal of warmth from its humble premise.” (PG-14, 1h 40m)
