Since its earlier 2019 premiere at Norfolk’s Old Dominion University Tech Theater, “THE BLACK WALNUT” has had some additional edits and, in this COVID-impacted world, has still managed to find some new legs; screenings being scheduled at multiple DMV locations and even being booked for a California premiere. Come join us and take a look at the local premiere of this newly edited film, an important dramatic documentary that tells the story of 6 men on an extraordinary prostate cancer journey, their recruitment in an army to spread the word about the African-American prostate cancer disparity. September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness month and the film features 9 actual prostate cancer survivors, a urologist and a medical oncologist in dramatic roles. Don’t miss seeing “THE BLACK WALNUT” while it is still in its own early stages of awareness, before its new found legs become wings, and this Telly Award-winning film gets critical national notice.
