The Shape of Water

7 Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture

From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth), comes an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, and Doug Jones. (R, 119 mins)

“There’s something here for lovers of all kinds of movies — even silents and musicals — but the director transcends mere pastiche to craft a work that feels like the product of our collective film-going subconscious.”
– Alonso Duhalde. The Wrap

“Perhaps the greatest of The Shape of Water’s many surprises is how extravagantly romantic it is, driven throughout by an all-conquering belief in soulmates as lifelines.” – Guy Lodge, Variety

“It’s both weird and wonderful.” – Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly
